Maggie Potter, North West
Maggie was brought up and educated in the North West until moving to London to gain a BA Performance Arts degree from Middlesex Polytechnic. Trained as a dancer she spent five years teaching, running workshops and choreographing in numerous community and arts settings. This included community groups, adult education, the youth service and with an organisation specialising in taking creative activity into mental health and psychiatric hospitals. She then joined Ballet Rambert as Education Officer establishing and facilitating a national educational outreach programme producing educational support materials and an educational video for use in schools.

After managing two arts organisations she moved back to the North West joining North West Arts Association (Now Arts Council England, North West) as Community Arts Officer and progressed to become Senior Planning Officer liaising with revenue funded clients and local authorities, regeneration projects and other agencies.

She then worked in the field of Creative Industries where she recruited small business as tenants to small business start up workspaces and gave face to face advisory sessions to artists and co-ordinated training and network events. She has also worked as a freelance consultant working with numerous local authorities and arts organisations.

Maggie is looking forward to working with Making Music's North West members and to working on exciting and innovative projects.

Her other time is spent feeding three very greedy but lovely cats, tending her large balcony garden and cooking. She tells us she now feels obliged to re-establish her flute lessons which she took up at the tender age of 40!
