On 1, 2, 3 October 2010 people from all over the UK will come together to celebrate the power of singing in aid of Classic FM's charity Music Makers as part of the first ever national singing weekend, 123sing! Created by Classic FM and Making Music, 123sing! will highlight the life-changing effects of singing and how it can be a valuable activity to deal with the stresses of everyday life. | July 2010

BBC Performing Arts Fund awards over £200,000 to choirs around the UK |

The BBC Performing Arts Fund, in association with Making Music, has awarded over £200,000 to choirs and singing groups from around the UK through its Choral Ambition scheme. From the 350 applications that were received, 98 choirs - with a total of almost 6,000 choir members between them - will receive funding. | Jan 2010

£25,000 to help amateur groups adopt a composer |

Following eight highly-successful years, the Adopt a Composer scheme is to continue in 2009-2010, thanks to £25,000 from the PRS Foundation. The scheme, run by Sound and Music and Making Music, enables voluntary music groups to have a new piece of music especially composed for them by some of the UK's most talented young composers. | Dec 2009
