Regional Development Officer
Joanna Sleight, Eastern
As well as being available to provide support and advice to members in the area, Joanna is working with the Eastern Committee to improve communications and promote networking and resource sharing between music groups throughout the Eastern region.

Joanna will also be writing articles on issues faced by member groups. She will also be talking to local authority arts and culture teams across the region, so do let Joanna know if you have any concerns in your local area which you would like bringing to their attention.

Before joining Making Music, Joanna was slaving away in banking for several years whilst training and working as a mezzo soprano. She studied opera performance skills with ENO Baylis, Voice and Alexander Technique at the School for FM Alexander Studies in Melbourne, Australia and was a choral scholar at Trinity College, Cambridge.

Joanna sings oratorio and opera and has 20-odd years experience of choral singing, performing with the Joyful Company of Singers and giving regular lunchtime recitals in Covent Garden with The Knack Singers. She also teaches singing, runs workshops and has been known to direct vocal ensembles.

Joanna understands several medieval languages, can roll a kayak one-handed, and usually has her nose in a book.
