Winner of the 2008 Handel Singing Competition, Erica Eloff holds a BMus degree and Post Graduate Diploma in Performance (Cum Laude) from the Potchefstroom University, studying voice with Werner Nel. During her studies she was awarded several prizes and scholarships by national institutions such as the Federation of Afrikaans Cultural Societies (FAK), the Southern African Music Rights Organisation (SAMRO) and UNISA (University of South Africa). She wins several prizes including the ATKV Forté (2000), the UFAM Concours Internationaux de Chant - degré Honneur (2003), the First UNISA National Singing Competition (2005), and special awards at the Fifth UNISA International Singing Competition (2006), and the Great Elm Vocal Awards (2006).

Operatic roles in student productions with the former National Chamber Orchestra (NCO) includes Barbarina (Le nozze di Figaro), Despina (Cosi fan tutte), Adéle (Die Fledermaus), Adina (L'elisir da'more) and the Queen of the Night (Magic flute). Since living in the UK she has sung the Queen of the Night (Magic flute: Bearwood Opera), Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte: British Youth Opera) and First Lady (Magic flute: Opera Project). Future engagements include Fiordiligi (Cosi fan tutte) for Garsington Opera in June/July 2008.

Erica has appeared with several choral societies in the UK, South Africa and Germany and her repertoire includes from Bach Johannes Passion to the Requiems of Brahms, Fauré, Mozart, Rutter and Martin Watt. A career highlight includes The Messiah from scratch with Sir David Wilcocks in the Royal Albert Hall in December 2007.

She has given recitals at all the major South African Arts Festivals and works actively as chamber musician, with world premiers of works by South African and English composers. She has also done South African premier recitals of works such as George Crumb's Federico's little songs for Children with the composer present at the 2000 Aardklop Arts Festival. Erica has sung on In Tune for BBC 3, and has appeared several times on South African Radio and Television (SABC). She will make her Wigmore Hall debut in their 2008/09 season.

Amongst her tutors in Master classes have been Elly Ameling, Susan Bullock, Helmut Deutsch and Joan Rodgers. She studied with Lillian Watson and currently with Sheila Barnes.
