Events and Training
Making Music offers a very wide range of training opportunities for voluntary music groups throughout the year, usually free or at highly subsidised rates. Making Music's team of part-time Regional Development Officers assess the developmental needs of their area and plan workshops and training events to fulfill these requirements. These events are usually open to all voluntary music groups in the relevant areas. They are often run in collaboration with the relevant Arts Board/Council, local authority arts officers and other agencies.

Common topics include:
Artistic training
Ranging from choral workshops to conductor training and encompassing orchestral coaching and repertoire planning.

Marketing and audience development
Where are the audiences for the future going to come from? How do we find them?

Fundraising
How do we find funds for our core activities and for our special projects? What are the right approaches to corporate and private business partners? How do we approach trusts and foundations?

Working with committees
Courses designed to assist in the overall administrative functions of a member group.
