Nominations open for voluntary music composition award11 May 2012
Nominations are now open for the Making Music category of the 2012 British Composer Awards. The category serves to recognise composers of new works written especially for voluntary or amateur music groups. This year, the category has been widened to celebrate all works written for voluntary, amateur or youth ensembles.
Making Music CEO completes marathon challenge9 May 2012
Inspired by the spirit of the London 2012 Olympic Games, Making Music's Chief Executive, Robin Osterley, ran the London Marathon on 22 April. He raised over £4,880 for Making Music and our charity partner, CLIC Sargent.

The winners of Making Music’s 2012 Philip & Dorothy Green Award for Young Concert Artists have been announced. The awards, which have been running for over 50 years, recognise the UK’s brightest young musical talent while offering an affordable service for Making Music members looking to hire top-flight soloists for their concerts.
A welcome boost for UK music volunteers20 Mar 2012
Making Music is thrilled to announce that it has been awarded £85,500 to expand its volunteering activities. The funding will be delivered over the course of two years by the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, one of the leading independent grant-making foundations in the UK.
Success for Yorkshire Music Library campaign15 Mar 2012
Making Music is delighted to announce that the important music collection housed at Wakefield Library, Yorkshire, has been saved. Yorkshire Libraries and Information (YLI) had stated its intention in October 2011 to cease the Music and Drama Service from April 2012 onwards. However, following its intensive efforts with Making Music and the International Association of Music Librarians (IAML) it announced on Friday that a new premises for the collection has been found.
