Co-opted DirectorSince 1982 I have had a varied career in public, private, social enterprise and voluntary settings. I started in personnel, have worked for myself, coordinated international tours for an intercultural arts organisation and worked within special educational needs. I am now an Investigator for the Local Government Ombudsman in York.

I started volunteering when my two children were small in 1992 and have been active ever since. My involvements include a local park redevelopment, a parent teacher association, intercultural arts activities, the local Council emergency response team and Making Music since 2007.

I love a wide range of music and especially enjoy making music. I played the clarinet and flute in my youth and have sung with Escafeld Chorale in Sheffield and with a southern African Imbube choir, Sosa Xa. I now sing alto with Sheffield Oratorio Chorus. I also greatly enjoy the challenge of African drumming. I play regularly with a small group, Bleat Beat, performing at local festivals, private functions and public busks that get people dancing despite themselves!

I am greatly looking forward to bringing my professional skills, my love of music making and a range of volunteer experience to Making Music at a time of exciting development and opportunity.
