Evan Dawson, Head of Support and Development

Evan is responsible for our national programmes, leading on agendas such as participation; music and wellbeing; and our national media partnerships. He also heads up our development strategy, raising support for all of our work.

Previously, Evan was responsible for all our regional work, including managing our team of 12 Development Officers and 200 volunteers. During this time, he initiated several national projects including Play to the Nation (with BBC Radio 3), 123Sing! (with Classic FM), Play it Again (with BBC TV), the Sound Alliance Convention (at the Barbican Arts Centre), and the Learn to Sing courses (with BABS and Choir of the Year).

Evan joined Making Music in March 2005, having previously worked as a solicitor at media law firm Mishcon de Reya. He has also been Director of Music at University College London, and a children's workshop leader at Pembroke Academy of Music.

He is a keen saxophonist, conductor and composer, having trained at the Guildhall School of Music. He regularly performs with his jazz group, and writes soundtrack music for various film and television projects.
