Adopt-a-Composer
We are very excited to announce that the highly-successful Adopt-a-Composer scheme is back this year following a very positive independent evaluation. For the 2009/2010 scheme we have selected six member groups and paired them up with six contemporary composers, who will spend time with the group and write a piece of music based on their needs and ideas, and subsequently help with its rehearsal and performance.
It is a wonderful opportunity for an orchestra, choir or band to have a piece of new music commissioned especially for them. The project is funded by the Performing Rights Society Foundation for New Music, and costs nothing for the member group involved. It is run in partnership with Sound and Music.
The collaborations last for about a year and culminate in the group performing the premiere of the work. To read more about the scheme click here for an information sheet. Groups will be invited to apply in April 2010 for the scheme.
