Mail: Following the success of our 2008 and 2009 Full Works programmes on Classic FM, we are delighted to launch the partnership project again for 2010. Last year, this partnership culminated in several of our choirs being broadcast on Christmas Day afternoon, in a special programme entitled 'Making Music'. Classic FM is the UK's largest commercial radio station with an audience of almost 7m listeners - the Full Works show enjoys around 1 millions listeners every week!
This year, we are extending this unique audience development opportunity to our instrumental groups. We are inviting our member orchestras to submit a recording of a performance of a full work. Those selected for broadcast will also feature on the Classic FM website, will be mentioned on air and may be included on the Classic FM podcast. You could use this opportunity to reach out for new players, new audience members, or to raise awareness of your group in the local community and beyond. If there is an interesting story behind the recording, all the better! We're interested in anything from small intimate chamber pieces through to large-scale works, from any period.
If you have a high-quality CD recording made in the last couple of years of a full work (please note performances of incomplete works cannot be broadcast), all you need to do is send it in, along with a completed application form available for download here. The address is at the bottom of the form.
Classic FM has provided some guidance and tips about creating recordings suitable for radio broadcast available here. Please note, these tips were written with choirs in mind but also have relevance for orchestral recordings.
Selected recordings will be broadcast in April 2010. Please return the form and CD by 29 March 2010.
