Regional Development Officers

Sylvie Gallant

Sylvie will be managing the development projects for the region, whilst Becky Stickland will be available to provide individual advice to Eastern member groups.

A trained classical singer, Sylvie has worked in opera, oratorio, plays, musical theatre, physical theatre, dance pieces and even art installations! She has worked as a soloist, with small ensembles and choirs, from early music to contemporary pieces. She strongly believes that music communicates what words can't, and it is this passion that has led her to try to help music makers reach as wide an audience as possible.

Sylvie also has been teaching singing for over 10 years, training young solo performers, running drama/music workshops and teaching in primary schools where children call her by her onomatopoeic name, Yippee. Years of teaching have led her to be highly organised and efficient with a profound mission to help the next generation to make music too.

Being from a small village in rural French Canada, she has a strong sense of community. She was also part of a team who raised funds to build a school in Haiti, and went on to teach as well as continue her charity work there. It was in Haiti that she saw directly that well thought-out projects can build a strong community.

Sylvie's mission is to help members in the eastern region find the power of information sharing, group cohesion and collaboration, and to develop ideas beyond borders.
