Mail: The importance of music to our individual and community wellbeing is being increasingly recognised, and Making Music believes it has an important role to play in supporting its development. We are working with the National Operatic and Dramatic Association, other voluntary arts organisations and leading music and health experts, to start a new national initiative to promote music and wellbeing. Former Minister of Health and the Arts, Lord Howarth of Newport, has agreed to be our political champion.
The initiative is being led by Professor Stephen Clift, Co-Director of the Sidney De Haan Research Centre, and he will be supported by a number of leaders in the field. In a few short years, the Centre has established itself as an international centre of excellence on music and wellbeing, and health. Making Music is very happy to be working with Stephen Clift who outlines the case for a national music and wellbeing initiative.
