David Bedford Commission
How does the scheme work?

The new work by David was commissioned jointly by the choirs performing the work during the period from September 2006 up to the end of 2007.

Only choirs who are part of the commissioning groups are able to perform the new work during its this period and enjoy the benefits of the publicity that will be afforded to the scheme.

Throughout the scheme Making Music will co-ordinate the commission shares and undertake the administration of hiring parts and providing all other information necessary for performance.

Making Music will support all performances of David's new work with publicity, essential materials (commission logo, programme note, biography, etc) and sets of scores for rehearsal and performance.

The work is scored for SATB, with both a piano accompaniment and an optional instrumental accompaniment (for various groups of instruments). This makes the work ideal for choirs with limited resources, but also has the potential to be a larger-scale performance. The work is no longer than 20 minutes in duration and written in an accessible musical idiom.
