Voluntary Arts Survey |

The DCMS has recently announced its first-ever survey of voluntary and amateur arts in England. The survey will go online during February. The survey will aim to provide a more accurate picture of the opportunities available throughout the country as well as the needs of the sector. |

Choir Wars |

This has been a really busy period for music on the TV - and there
appears to be no stopping it! This year the BBC will be launching Choir Wars, a kind of X Factor for choirs, on the prime slot on Saturday nights!
All Making Music choirs will be invited to take part, although the entry requirements will require a good deal of flexibility in your scheduling! But Choir Wars aims to do for choral singing what Strictly Come Dancing has done for the ballroom, so it's good news all round. More details on how to get involved will be published soon.

Arts Council England Funding Cuts |

The Arts Council England have come under criticism from the sector in response to its recent cuts. Particularly hit have been smaller theatres. More than half of the 229 organisations to have their funding terminated have made formal responses to challenge the decision. The majority are deeply concerned that decisions have been based on inaccurate information. |
