Insurance renewal
Making Music will continue to renew your insurance with Ecclesiastical together with your membership renewal instructions and payment.
This takes place in late October/November, with a return date of early December. Your group makes a single payment to include membership, insurance and any performing right royalties, and Making Music does the rest.
Throughout the year if you have any additional insurance requirements these should be handled by Ecclesiastical directly. You can do this by using the contact details as set out above.
Employers' liability
Employers' Liability insurance (with a limit of indemnity of £10 million any one occurrence) is now included as standard in all policies even where the group has only volunteers, for outlined below.
If your group has employees (note, this does not include freelancers), it is a requirement of the Employers' Liability (Compulsory Insurance) Act 1969 that you effect this cover.
Whilst not a legal requirement, Ecclesiastical now recommends strongly that groups effect Employers' Liability insurance even where they have only volunteers as opposed to employees. For this reason Employers' Liability has now been included as standard.
It is usual for authorised volunteers acting for a group to be regarded as employees for the purposes of insurance; this is because society increasingly regards volunteers in the same light as employees. For example, the Health & Safety Executive now regards volunteers as employees, and persons who make use of volunteers as employers. The same level of training, information and advice must be given to both employees and volunteers. |
