Paul Cutts is editorial director of Impromptu Publishing, a Manchester-based company specialising in producing music, music education, arts and charities titles and where he has created and runs six music magazines. A former head chorister and choral scholar of St David's Metropolitan Cathedral in Cardiff, he graduated with first class honours in English from the city's university. After six months editing a Native American newspaper in the Rocky Mountains of Wyoming, he returned to the UK to work as a journalist. In London he conducted the London community choir The Pink Singers for five years in the 1990s and he remains a keen amateur pianist, singer and composer. An occasional broadcaster for Radios 2 and 3 and founder of Gramophone Online (the recording magazine's online home), he writes programme notes for the London Symphony Orchestra's new-music series Sound Adventures and as a freelancer has contributed to all of the country's leading classical music magazines.
