Board of Directors
Ken Scott
I have enjoyed and supported choral singing, as a non singer, for almost 40 years and wish to repay the enormous pleasure derived. The survival of community based music depends not only on the efforts of individual societies, but on a supportive infrastructure. I believe Making Music is a key organisation in providing that infrastructure, and I wish to help improve that infrastructure so that it provides the greatest possible support to individual societies.

I hope my experience as a business consultant helping organisations to improve performance will be helpful to Making Music. I do not have specific musical expertise, but I have been involved as a 'groupie' providing support to a number of organisations, as well as being involved in the regional activities of Making Music. I therefore have some experience at the sharp end of what makes voluntary music making tick.

As a non musician, I intend to bring a different perspective, and one that might resonate well with those providing funding but who do not see music as their first priority. I also have a keen interest in the Arts and Health and I hope that my different perspective coupled with this interest is helpful in developing Making Music's response to the changing environment and the growing importance of third sector activity in social wellbeing.

Our history   Sir Peter Maxwell Davies
Making Music was established in 1935. We have a rich history of musical activity and this is reflected in the organisation's presidents from Sir George Dyson to Sir Peter Maxwell Davies.   Maxwell Davies is our current president and universally acknowledged as one of the foremost composers of our time.
