North East

Down wiv da kidz - youth focus event | Washington Arts Centre | Tyne and Wear
Saturday 6 November, 10.15am - 3.15pm
Cost: free

This is for you if you're involved in running a music group which works with young people (either inside or outside school time), or which would like to. Topics will include child protection, Youth Music's new funding scheme, getting young people engaged, and a case study from a local group. Speakers include Andy Jackson (Cobweb Orchestra) and Gwyneth Lamb (Youth Music).

South East (Eastern Division)

Free Business Consultation Sessions with Robin Osterley
Sat 18 September, 11am - 3pm, Guildford Now fully booked

This event offers a chance for your group to come and discuss ideas and issues with Robin, on a one-to-one, or small group, basis. We can offer help and advice on a range of topics, for example, marketing, fundraising, audience development or commissioning. Each slot lasts up to 45 minutes. The sessions are now fully booked, but to join the waiting list, please contact Kate via email.

Sing Around the World (and Join a Local Choir!): Workshop with Scott Stroman

Celebrate a range of vocal styles including jazz, gospel, world, and classical in this one-day workshop led by acclaimed vocal director and jazz artist Scott Stroman. Well known for his fun, inspiring approach to group singing, Scott teaches by ear, so no music reading is required. Meet members of local choirs to find out how to get singing in the Brighton area.

South East (Western Division)

Form a Folk Band! | SAE Institute, Littlemore | Oxford
Sunday 26 September and 5 subsequent workshops
Cost: £70 adults, £50 conc - for 6 workshops + extras

A course of 6 workshops in autumn 2010, bringing together musicians to form folk bands. Including all instruments and voices looking at playing for dancing as well as for concert performance situations. Facilitated by Cat Kelly, with 6 special guest tutors including Paul Sartin, Jim Moray, Will Pound, and Pete Flood. The course includes the chance to record tracks at SAE, plus the opportunity to play at the Oxford Folk Festival 2011!
