Jon Conway | 15 April
We are just about to start week five of the course and I can report that the group is getting stronger and more confident as each week progresses. Attendance is remaining high as is their enthusiasm for singing. I decided to introduce a third song since they were getting on so well with the other 2 and the group was delighted with this decision. I have not only worked on how to sing but also how to shape the music through dynamics and how to read what the director is asking for through body language and nonverbal communication. I am very impressed with how quickly they grasped this concept and have turned the singing of notes and words into beautiful songs. There is an air of excitement right from the start of each session and the smiles on everyone's faces is a clear indication of how much they are enjoying their newly found skill.
Through feedback from other courses it is clear that this initiative is an all round success and it has shown over a thousand people how much fun singing can be.
Some of the comments received are:
'I never thought I could or would sing, I will now'
'Improved my general confidence as well as my singing confidence'
'I needed some joy in my life, something for me to enjoy and I think I have found it'
'A very positive and uplifting course'
'I'm telling everyone to try it - inspiring'
'I have looked forward with excitement to each session. I am so sad it's finished'
'Can I do it again next year?'
'Six weeks is too short'
