Jennifer Lee was born in Seoul, Korea and began her piano studies at the age of five. At eleven she and her family moved to New Zealand where she continued her musical studies and soon became an active performer both as soloist and chamber musician.
After gaining her undergraduate degree at Victoria University in New Zealand in 2005, she won a full scholarship to pursue postgraduate studies in London at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama where she entered the class of Martin Roscoe.
In 2006 she gained her Master's degree with Distinction and in 2007 she was awarded an MMP (Masters in Music Performance, Guildhall Artist) also with Distinction. In the same year she won the First Prize in the Eastbourne Symphony Orchestra Young Soloist Competition; the McCullum Prize for the most promising pianist at the Royal Overseas League Music Competition in London; 2007 Myra Hess Award (MBF); Romantic Piano Prize at the Guildhall and most recently was awarded the J. Wight Henderson Prize at the 8th Scottish International Piano Competition. She has given solo recitals throughout UK in venues such as St. James's Piccadilly, Jerwood Hall in LSO St. Luke's, Princess Alexandra's Hall at the Royal Overseas House in London and Royal Overseas House in Edinburgh.
In New Zealand she studied with Thomas Hecht, Diedre Irons and she continues her studies at the Guildhall now in the class of Joan Havill. In London she has received generous sponsorship from MB Adams Scholarship and a Sheldon Award.
