‘Familiar Fields’: Celebrating Benjamin Britten’s life and music in Norfolk & Suffolk. An extensive programme of performances and events from November 2012 – November 2013

Benjamin BrittenNovember 2013 sees the centenary of Benjamin Britten OM, the most celebrated British composer of the 20th century, who was born and bred in East Anglia.

Familiar Fields is an extensive programme of performances and events across Suffolk and Norfolk celebrating Britten’s life and encouraging participation in performances of his music.

Full details of the Familiar Fields programme will be published from Spring 2012 which will include performances by Britten Sinfonia, a mini-Britten Festival at UEA and Britten operas at Norwich Theatre Royal.

Aldeburgh will provide the main focus of the celebrations and Aldeburgh Music is planning a year long programme of events from November 2012 which will culminate in a weekend of special events around 22 November 2013.

How can you get involved?

The emphasis of Aldeburgh Music’s programme will be Britten’s local roots, community participation and how he has inspired other artists. To this end, groups and organizations are encouraged to take part across the whole of the Eastern region and can email Michael Nutt, Administrator or call 01603 503718 to find out more and to register their events and performances.
