Who we are

Making Music London covers the 33 local authority boroughs of Greater London.

Last modified on: 21/12/2011

British Gospel ArtsMaking Music London is one of several regional 'branches', linking Making Music nationally with voluntary musicians in London. It is currently overseen by London Project Consultant Heather Tomala and Peter Stokes, our Head of Volunteer Management.

Heather is available a few hours per month to advise on all aspects of music-making and running a music group in London. She has particular expertise in the areas of working with professional musicians and organisations, and writing funding applications and project plans.

She deals mainly with:

  • developing the VocalEase programme
  • helping to set up community / wellbeing music groups
  • maintaining the Making Music London website
  • and continues to be the first port of call for London’s voluntary musicians.

As well as the more common themes of marketing, recruitment and fundraising, Heather can help with artistic and programming issues, especially where professional musicians are involved, and gives bespoke advice on draft funding applications from member groups.

To enable us to expand our work in London even further, we are looking to recruit a team of skilled and dedicated volunteers. Volunteer roles vary from research to web content management, from writing news stories to advising members on fundraising. Most are home-based, and can require a time commitment of as little as 3 hours per week. To find out more please visit our volunteer vacancies page.
