We provide seminars, workshops, training, advice, useful resources, piano hire and networking opportunities for amateur and voluntary music organisations in the West region.
Our member groups come in many varieties and sizes from small a capella groups to large choruses, symphony orchestras, chamber groups, jazz, folk bands and promoting groups that put on a huge variety of events.
Here are some services we provide to members in the West region.
Making Music West ebulletin
This bi-monthly regional ebulletin contains a variety of useful news highlights including information about resources, funding, music making opportunities and general music news.
One-to-one advice
We provide advice and support to music groups on a range of music related topics such as securing funding for projects, recruiting new Musical Directors, working with young people or those who are sick. With years of experience and access to a wealth of resources we respond to requests by email, phone or in person. Do get in touch if you have a query that we could help you with.
Piano hire
We have a Steinway Model C Grand piano available for hire. It is stored and maintained by the North West Piano Centre (NWPC) based in Longsight, Manchester. They are responsible for transporting and tuning the piano, unless special arrangements are agreed with them. Hire charges for members and non-members are given in the booking form here. Before booking, please check with the NWPC centre first that it is available on the dates you require. Contact details are available in the booking form.
Training
Training events are organised regularly. Past events include hands-on Social Media Training, Making the Most of your Membership, Sing the Verdi Requiem, A Violin Day, a jazz vocal workshop, among others.Visit the national events section to see what we currently offer in the West region.
Visiting
It's vital that we understand the needs of music groups in our region and in order to do this we have a visiting programme. Often groups get in touch and invite a representative of Making Music to attend a rehearsal, committee meeting or open day.
