As Making Music is a registered charity, the Charity Commission requires us not to admit as Full Members groups whose purposes are not solely charitable. However such organisations can join as Associate Members.
The Making Music membership categories are:
Full membership
If your members participate in your musical activity on an entirely voluntary basis then you will be eligible to join as a Full member. You will need to have a charitable constitution – but we can help you with that if you have not yet got this in place. Full members are entitled to the lowest insurance premiums and the full range of membership benefits available.
Download our information sheet on setting up a society, which includes our model constitution.
Associate Membership
If any of your members receive payment for what they do in your group, or if you are unable to implement a charitable constitution, you will still be eligible for Associate Membership, which is open to any group or individual. Associate members are eligible for most membership services and benefits but, where they are eligible for insurance, pay higher insurance premiums.
Corporate Membership
Corporate Membership is available to those organisations seeking the opportunity to belong to the national voice of voluntary music. Corporate Members make an important contribution to Making Music's activities, putting something back into music in the community and receive a number of benefits in return.
