Spanning four years from September 2008 to the last day of the London 2012 Paralympic Games, the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad is the largest cultural celebration in the history of the modern Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is designed to give everyone in the country a chance to be part of London 2012, inspiring creativity across all forms of culture, especially amongst young people. The aim is to make a real impact which will leave a lasting legacy.
This isn’t just about London. There is a network of Creative Programmers, one for each nation and region of the UK, who make sure the most innovative projects take their place in the Cultural Olympiad.
LOCOG – the London Organising Committee of the Olympic Games – is responsible for the Cultural Olympiad, working closely with the government and the Mayor of London plus partners including Arts Councils, BBC, the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, Regional Development Agencies and national and regional arts organisations.
Making Music has joined forces with Voluntary Arts to appoint a Once in a Lifetime Project Officer. The role of the Once in a Lifetime Project Officer is to encourage voluntary arts organisations to make the most of the opportunities to participate in the Cultural Olympiad.
