Gospel Celebration was an opportunity to recognise all the fun and hard work that has gone into establishing gospel singing in the North East. Around 380 singers were involved in the project, which consisted of workshops, collaborations and performances. The finale, a celebratory concert, featured more than 120 singers, a jazz ensemble, Scott Stroman and Michael Harper.
20,000 Voices set up its first gospel project in March 2002. Led by Scott Stroman it was a huge success, and more gospel activity followed over the years. The group created a North East Gospel choir which is now independent, and has run regular projects with Scott and Michael Harper.
