Colliers Wood Chorus staged a performance that was as Carl Orff originally intended, with lighting, costumes, choreography and music combined for a total art experience. Art inspired by Carmina Burana from art-students in Merton was exhibited in the venue, and a selection of these were used as large-scale projections during the performance. This concert also marked the opening night of the Merton Music Foundation's Festival.
Colliers Wood Chorus is a community choir of mixed ability and age, and had never attempted to sing such a large-scale work on their own before. They stretched their musical abilities and pushed personal boundaries in attempting extracts from this complex piece. Working in partnership with Merton Music Foundation was a first for them, and they were thrilled to have them on board to provide the orchestra and children's and youth choirs.
Colliers Wood Chorus performed the following day as part of Voices Now at the Roundhouse in London.
