Several member groups worked with other partner organisations, such as Renfrewshire Musical Threads (a community group of volunteers) to create 'Weaving Musical Threads'. The event focused on Renfrewshire's place in the world – both historically and in the present day – and the abounding talent within Renfrewshire.

The Making Music member groups involved were Arkleston Singers, The Gleniffer Singers, Paisley Festival Company, Paisley Philharmonic Choir, St James Orchestra and Thomas Coats Memorial Choral Society.

Never before had so many different cultural and diverse groups come together in Renfrewshire to celebrate and showcase their activities. In the true Olympic vein, this was a cultural celebration of ability of the mind and body, a striving for a goal beyond the personal best. The event sought to enrich and extend performance while celebrating excellence in the arts across Renfrewshire.

Historically, Renfrewshire, is known for its thread, weaving and religious connections, such as to Cluny, France. It has been a prominent stage of new music in Scotland and Paisley is currently the choral town of Scotland.

'Weaving Musical Threads' was part of an inspirational weave of creativity that reflects historical and present day Renfrewshire and its place in the world, an orchestra based finale weekend with a connection to literary art, drama, design, art, dance and music with orchestral workshops. This also included a wide range of new media and digital technology. Arts groups, individuals, organisations and local businesses participated, developing creative links across Renfrewshire.
