Who can register and why do I need to register?

Last modified on: 06/06/2011

Any individual can register for our website. Users then have access to different resources and tools depending on what category of registration they are able to apply for.

1. Individuals belonging to member organisations

a) If you belong to a Making Music member organisation and we have your email address already on record, then when you register you will be recognised according to your role within your group. You will be able to access all of our tools and resources on behalf of your group, and if you are the Making Music Representative or Treasurer you will have additional privileges eg the ability to amend contact details and renew online (see below).

b) If you belong to a Making Music member organisation and we do not yet have your email address already on record, you will be able to connect yourself with your group at registration, but we will need to verify this with your Making Music representative (MM rep) before confirming your access privileges. This is to protect the entitlements of our member groups. Once you are registered, you can simply ask your MM rep to link you to your group. Once you are linked the your group, your access will be as described in 1a) above.

Members of Making Music can perform the following tasks as registered users:

  • renew membership and insurance subscription (only MM Rep & Treasurer)

  • add/edit your group's contact records (only MM Rep, Treasurer and Secretary)
  • add/edit your group's public profile page (only MM Rep, Treasurer, Chair, Secretary and Publicity Officer)
  • access/download an information sheet as well as access the Music Exchange, Repertoire Service and Programme Notes library (any users associated to a Making Music member group)
  • submit an event for listing on our events calendar (any users connected with a Making Music member group)

2. Individuals not associated with member organisations

Even if you are not connected with a Making Music member group, there are advantages in registering to use our website. You will be able to:

  • take part in our discussion forums - begin conversations, post comments and questions
  • set up your user profile to let people know about what you sing or play, or what musical opportunities you might be interested in getting involved with. In early 2011 we will be launching our Find a Musician tool which will allow our visitors to search for other registered users for singing, playing and conducting opportunities.

Register now on our website.
