Making Music Together virtual exhibition

In early 2019 Making Music had the opportunity to curate an exhibition celebrating leisure-time music at the Barbican Music Library in London, now viewable in virtual form!

Making Music Together celebrated the scale and breadth of the leisure-time music scene, and the positive impact taking part has on the hundreds of thousands of players and singers who get together week after week to make music.

From all corners of the UK, Making Music member groups sent us their posters and recordings, and told us why they love making music in a group so much, resulting in a vibrant collection reflecting the scale and breadth of the leisure-time music scene, alongside colourful infographics on the sector and a specially commissioned series of portraits of individual leisure-time musicians in their day-time roles, juxtaposed with their musical activities.

Thanks to V21 Artspace, we were able to capture the exhibition in digital form, giving even more people the chance to visit - have a look above. Click or tap on the circular buttons to browse the posters, listen and watch audio and video recordings of a range of groups in action, and zoom in to read the stories of some of these groups in more depth.
