HORSHAM MUSIC CIRCLE - 82nd Season - Spring 2024

The Autumn series 2023 opened with a packed church to hear Sheku Kanneh-Mason and Plinio Fernandes. As our reviewer said ‘A stunning musical partnership’ and we were certainly treated to exquisite playing from both artists. This was followed by the elegance and virtuosity displayed at the ‘Musique de Chambre’ Baroque evening and inspired innovation from 'one of the world's great improvisers'  Harry the Piano whose extensive knowledge of piano repertoire and formidable technique combined with sharp humour and inventiveness characterised his performance.

We now present our offering for the Spring 2024.  The series opens in JANUARY at St Mary’s Church with one of the most successful vocal sextets on the planet! THE KING’S SINGERS. This world renowned group represents the gold standard in a cappella singing on the world's greatest stages. Their special programme ‘Long Live the King’ celebrates the wealth of music associated with royal occasions and also includes audience favourites from the King’s Singers’ treasure trove of jazz, folk and spiritual arrangements. In MARCH at the Causeway Barn, Portuguese flautist FREDERICO PAIXÃO gives a recital with American pianist MARK ROGERS. Both come as award winning young artists sponsored by The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and play Sonatas by Bach, Poulenc and York Bowen with works by Tailleferre, Boulanger and Vaughan Williams. Pianist WARREN MAILLEY-SMITH appears at St Mary’s Church in MAY. He is in increasing demand as a concert pianist and his solo career sees him performing in festivals and concert venues across the UK, in Europe and the US. His programme includes much loved works by Beethoven, Rachmaninov, Chopin and Liszt/Schumann.

Cash payments (bring coins!) will be accepted at the concerts for Interval refreshments Wine/Juice £4/£1 and programmes £1.
