Find new members and audiences with BBC Get Playing

Join us in helping the BBC celebrate and inspire new amateur musicians through Get Playing this summer

This summer, we will be partnering with the BBC, ABRSM and Music for All to support the BBC’s ‘Get Playing’, a major new initiative aimed at shining a light on amateur music of all kinds. On BBC radio, television and online throughout the summer (including through two TV series – ‘The Great British Amateur Orchestra’ and ‘The UK’s Best Part-Time Band’) Get Playing will seek to inspire people to pick up instruments and celebrate amateur music-making across the UK.

We are looking for groups who might put on an instrumental Learn to Play/Come and Play/open rehearsal event to work alongside the initiative (Jun-Aug) and inspire people to pick up an instrument again or for the first time and take part in music making. As well as listing your event on the BBC’s Get Playing website, some could be promoted on local or national radio, so this could provide a great opportunity for groups to reach new audiences and potential new members.

What if my group isn’t available?

If you would like to get involved but your group can’t afford a venue, or if you’d like to get involved as an individual, our partners Music for All may be able to pair you or your group with a local music shop to help create an event together

What next?

If you’d like to find out more or are interested in putting on an event for your group, please get in touch with Sharon Moloney.
