New grants available for cultural projects in every London borough

Community-led cultural projects can apply for funding between £1,000-£5,000 during the course of the two-year rolling programme

The Mayor of London wants to see more local arts and culture activities created and put on by local people in London, so the Greater London Assembly (GLA) has launched the new Culture Seeds programme, which is aimed specifically at grassroots organisations.

Part of the Mayor of London’s draft strategy for culture, 'Culture for all Londoners', Culture Seeds will support not-for-profit, small or informal organisations and groups as well as individuals. It's a two-year programme, so you can apply at any time between now and March 2020 for funding between £1,000-£5,000.

Projects must have local people at their heart. The GLA is looking for projects that offer shared creative experiences to bring communities together. It will prioritise projects that support people on lower incomes, and connect communities that lack access to cultural resources and funding.

The grants are for funding arts, culture and heritage projects and activities including performing arts, choirs, singing groups, cultural events and festivals. You can find out more about the progamme, whether you're eligible, guidance on how to apply and where to submit your application on the GLA grants website
