Martin Roscoe - piano recital

Martin Roscoe in Middlewich! That is the tempting treat offered by the Middlewich and District Concerts Society for the first concert of 2019. As befits a pianist of his stature a grand piano has been hired for the occasion. No expense spared!

With an extraordinary career spanning over four decades, Martin is one of Britain’s best loved pianists. Renowned for his versatility at the keyboard, he is equally at home in concerto, recital and chamber performances. His enduring popularity and the respect in which he is universally held are built on a deeply thoughtful musicianship, allied to an easy rapport with audiences.

With a repertoire of over 100 concertos Martin works regularly with many of the Britain’s leading orchestras and has also performed with orchestras and at festivals worldwide. A prolific recitalist and chamber musician, Martin tours the UK extensively every season, always including small venues such as this.

The programme starts with Beethoven's "Pathetique" sonata and finishes with several pieces by Chopin (Ballade, Nocturne, Polonaise). In between are Schumann's evocative "Scenes from Childhood", two "Impromptus" by Schubert and Debussy's "Children's Corner".

It is difficult to imagine a more attractive selection of music and we have another great evening in prospect!
