Oboists & Bassoonists - come & play Handel's Musick for the Royal Fireworks on its 270 years anniversary

Musick for the Royal Fireworks on the anniversary of its first performance in 1749

Oboists and Bassoonists - come and play!

It was on 27th April 1749 that the ‘Musick for the Royal Fireworks’ composed by Mr Handel was first performed in Green Park in London. This famous work is now one of the most popular of all pieces from the baroque era. It is a major piece for double-reed players, and this is your chance to play this wonderful music in a special  historic anniversary event in London.
All oboists and bassoonists from grade 3 upwards can take part. There will of course be the original Handel oboe and bassoon parts, which are suitable for players of around grade 7-8 upwards. If you are not quite at this level, you can still come and play – the performing edition to be used also includes some easier parts for players of between grades 3-6 standard. All parts will be put up on the BDRS website in March for you to download, print and practice in advance.
