Christmas Concert

A CELEBRATION OF CHRISTMAS MUSIC WITH THE PURBECK ARTS CHOIR

Christmas celebrations are starting early this year for the Purbeck Arts Choir.  Our Christmas concert will take place on Saturday 2ndDecember at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Swanage.

As in previous years the choir will be joined by the Purbeck Youth Choir and an orchestra of talented local musicians.  We are delighted that Lydia Bennett, who is principal bassoonist with the Wessex Youth Orchestra, will be playing a Vivaldi Bassoon concerto.

We have a packed programme of exciting music which we looking forward to singing this year - the Vivaldi Credo (RV591) is taking centre stage and is joined by other festive delights including “This Joyous Night”, a beautiful telling of the Christmas story by Alan Woods, and Morten Lauridsen’s “O Magnum Mysterium”.  We will also be singing “The Seal Lullaby” by Eric Whitacre who has achieved worldwide acclaim for his choral music.

 

The concert is in support of the Swanage Development Trust and tickets are only £10 in advance from Corbens and Choir members (Liz Roberts 481419), or £12 on the door.
