Join us for celebratory concert in honour of vioalist Eric Sargon’s 90th birthday at St. James' Church in Paddington. Eric is alumni of BBC Symphony Orchestra, having played 43 Proms seasons with them. As a long standing associate of The Whitehall Orchestra, he will perform a viola solo in Harold in Italy by Berlioz under the direction of Michael Nebe, and Christian Halstead as leader. The programme will also include the Overture of Verdi’s opera The Force of Destiny, the Cappricio Italien by Tchaikovsky and Der Rosenkavalier Waltz Sequence No.1 by Strauss.

Harold in Italy is one of Eric’s favourite viola solos. In his words -  “The piece is essentially an orchestral work with viola taking the part of Harold on his journey. It is one of the nicest viola solos - full of colour, mood and emotion while the entire piece if bursting with character’’.
