Mendelssohn's Elijah: Ashtead Choral Society/Kent Sinfonia

For their rescheduled 70th anniversary celebratory concert, ACS will be performing one of the greatest oratorios ever written, Mendelssohn's Elijah, with full professional orchestra.

Mendelssohn’s most dramatic and enthralling work is a vivid depiction of the prophet's life, expressed through thrilling musical storytelling, brilliant arias, and grand and vibrant choruses.

ACS is a choir of around 100 members committed to providing high quality music for both singers and audiences alike. Under the professional direction of our conductor Andrew Storey we give three major concerts a year. Our repertoire is varied and ranges from Tallis and Vittoria to Britten and Gershwin.

We are delighted that the Kent Sinfonia and several of our original soloists are available to join us in celebrating 70 years of Ashtead Choral Society: Eleanor Pennell-Briggs (soprano), Susan Legg (alto), Adam Tunnicliffe (tenor), Philip Tebb (bass), Inigo Ludford-Thomas (youth).
