Brahms - A German Requiem

Cirencester’s Abbey 900 celebrations will continue on Saturday 11th November with this concert of choral music for Remembrance Day, when the Cheltenham Bach Choir and Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra will perform Brahm’s great sacred work, his German Requiem, in Cirencester Parish Church. The evening will also include Herbert Howell's moving 'Take him, earth, for cherishing' written in response to the death of President John F Kennedy.

For this concert the Cheltenham Bach Choir, under their Music Director David Crown, will be joined by two notable international soloists - Joanne Lunn and Duncan Rock - and the Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra.   David Crown said “Brahms’ German Requiem is one of the most heart-rending of Requiems; it was written by Brahms following the death of his mother. It’s a stunning choral work that manages to convey both the sacred and the humane, with waves of grandeur, yet at the same time, great intimacy.”

The concert is being held at the Parish Church of St John Baptist, Market Place, Cirencester GL7 2NX on Saturday 11th November, starting at 19:30.  Tickets are available from the information desk in the Corinium Museum - 01285 654180 -  or by contacting tickets@cheltbachchoir.com .  For more information on the event please visit the choir’s website  www.cheltbachchoir.com .
