Cirencester’s Abbey 900 celebrations will continue on Saturday 11th November with this concert of choral music for Remembrance Day, when the Cheltenham Bach Choir and Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra will perform Brahm’s great sacred work, his German Requiem, in Cirencester Parish Church. The evening will also include Herbert Howell's moving 'Take him, earth, for cherishing' written in response to the death of President John F Kennedy.
For this concert the Cheltenham Bach Choir, under their Music Director David Crown, will be joined by two notable international soloists - Joanne Lunn and Duncan Rock - and the Northern Lights Symphony Orchestra. David Crown said “Brahms’ German Requiem is one of the most heart-rending of Requiems; it was written by Brahms following the death of his mother. It’s a stunning choral work that manages to convey both the sacred and the humane, with waves of grandeur, yet at the same time, great intimacy.”
