Choir 2000 and the Sampson Orchestra- Hermann Suter "Le Laudi" & Johannes Brahms "St. Anthony Variations", "Song of Destiny"

Le Laudi (1924) by the Swiss composer Hermann Suter, is based on the ‘Canticle of the Sun’ by St Francis of Assisi.
A triumph on the continent, with over 80 performances, this glorious oratorio never made it to Britain.
In June 2009, Choir 2000 gave it its first UK performance in Cambridge, to great acclaim. We're delighted to reprise this work at West Road in 2018 and to do so in the company of old friends, some of whom are travelling from the other side of the world to be with us.
Prof Timothy Carney, who gave the introduction to the audience in 2009, will conduct and will bring around 20 members of his Hawaii Masterworks Chorus with him to swell our ranks.
The picture re-uniting some of the original soloists; Amy Moore (soprano) now lives in Australia, but she has already agreed to sing for us again. She is able to combine her journey with a family visit. Louise Crane and Ben Davies are also keen to sing the work again. Justin Lavender is looking forward to singing the tenor solos. He was very disappointed last time that a professional commitment in Taiwan prevented him from taking part.

The first half of the programme is Brahms "St Anthony Variations" and "Song of Destiny" conducted by Peter Britton.
