Cockermouth Harmonic Society
SING A NEW SONG CONCERT 7 July 2018
Cockermouth Harmonic Society will be singing new songs on 7 July 2018, in All Saints Church, Cockermouth. The concert will start at 7.30pm.
Ronald Corp, a British conductor and choirmaster, composed A New Song in 1999. It is a suite of settings of words from psalms and poets celebrating music in worship. Bob Chilcott’s arrangements of Christmas carols are well-known, and in July the choir will sing his Jubilate. The choir will also perform Andrew Carter’s Benedicite. This work was first published in 1991 and is now a popular choice with choirs.
Beside the adult choir this concert will feature a children’s chorus and orchestra. Ian Wright, the choir’s music director, will conduct the choir, tenor soloist, Paul Smy, Derwent Youth Choir and the Jubilate Orchestra.
Tickets for the concert will cost £15 (£14 from choir members), and are free for full-time students, with a discount for parties of 6 or more. Tickets are available from Billy Bowman’s music shop in Cockermouth. Or telephone 01900 825083 or email: ticketsales@cockermouthharmonic.org.uk for further information.
Note to Editors: Cockermouth Harmonic Society is the largest adult choir in Cockermouth with some 50 singing members. The choir performs the major choral repertoire and has a professional musical director and accompanist.
