Come and Sing Elgar's 'The Kingdom' hosted by the Elgar Chorale of Worcester

A day of really enjoyable singing getting to grips with Elgar’s well loved work The Kingdom hosted by Worcester’s Elgar Chorale and led by their talented Director of Music, Piers Maxim. The piano accompanist will be another local performer, Penny Vere.

Seen by many as on a par with The Dream of Gerontiusand one of Elgar’s greatest works, The Kingdom was conceived as the second of three oratorios, the first being The Apostles and the last was to have been The Last Judgement but was never written. The piece is full of wonderful, stirring choruses such as O Ye Priestsas well as the hushed fervour of The Lord’s Prayer.

The venue is the Alice Ottley Hall at Worcester’s Royal Grammar School and takes place from 10am to 5pm.on Saturday 21stSeptember 2019.

The day starts at 10 am and finishes with a performance at 4 pm to which friends and family are cordially invited. The fee for the day is £25 (£15 students), to include music hire, buffet lunch and tea. Time will be spent on vocal techniques and style, and the day should suit singers across the age range from senior pupils and students to adults. Full details are available on the Chorale website www.elgarchorale.comand those interested should contact administrator@elgarchorale.comor 01684 594570, preferably by 14hSeptember to facilitate catering and music hire.

Piers’ last workshop at the same venue, Rossini’s Petite Messe Solonnelle was very popular and early booking is recommended.
