Orff: Carmina Burana
Belmont Chapel Exeter, 9.30am - 5.00pm
Directed by Nigel Perrin, with accompanist Peter Adcock
Our annual choral workshop is an open invitation for singers from far and wide to join us in a day’s exploration and cameo performance of a masterwork in the choral repertoire. In 2018 we are tackling Orff’s Carmina Burana, his settings of 24 mediaeval poems covering a wide range of topics, as familiar in the 13th century as they are today: the fickleness of fortune and wealth, the ephemeral nature of life, the joy of the return of spring, and the pleasures and perils of drinking, gluttony, gambling and lust.
Under the compelling and inspirational guidance of Nigel Perrin, here’s your chance to get new insights into this wonderfully vibrant work.
