Faversham Choral Society presents its Spring Concert
Saturday 24 March 2018
7.30 pm St Mary of Charity Faversham
Haydn: Nelson Mass
Originally called the 'Mass for Troubled Times'. Haydn’s mighty choral work is now forever associated with Admiral Horatio Nelson’s victory over Napoleon.
Howard Goodall: Eternal Light – a Requiem
Howard Goodall's composition Eternal Light was commissioned in 2008 and has received countless performances since then, making it his most popular large scale choral composition. However, he also wrote the theme to the Vicar of Dibley!
Written to mark the 20th anniversary of the ensemble London Musici, Goodall’s interpretation of the Requiem, was also envisaged as a dance piece for the Rambert Dance Company. Traditionally a prayer for the salvation of the departed soul, Goodall’s requiem centres on those who are left behind to grieve.
Conductor James Brown
Soloists: Eleanor Dan, David Wilcock, Matthew Spillet, Alex Pratley
