Mozart: Requiem; McDowall: Magnificat; London Mozart Players with Hertford Choral

Hertford Choral Society is performing Mozart's Requiem and McDowall, Magnificat, soloists: Katy Hill (soprano), Clare McCaldin (mezzo), Jeremy Budd (tenor), Alex Ashworth (bass), with the London Mozart Players, conducted by Derek Harrison.  All Saints Church, Hertford, SG13 8AY at 7.30pm on Saturday 11th November 2017.

When he started work on his Requiem, Mozart was terminally ill.  The work was completed by Franz Süssmayr, Mozart's closest musical confidante. Between them they have given us one of the most loved work in the choral repertoire.

Cecilia McDowall's graceful and uplifting Magnificat sets this familiar text to contemporary haromonies that hark back in an ingenious way to plainchant.
