The Marches Choir, conducted by Alistair Auld, will present an Opera Gala, set to be a wonderful musical evening in the stunning ballroom at Walcot Hall, Lydbury North. They will be joined by members of Aber Opera who are based at Aberystwyth University, with some of their singers having sung with professional or semi-professional companies such as Welsh National Opera, Mid-Wales Opera, and the City of Birmingham Symphony Chorus.
The concert will feature well known operatic choruses and arias, with music by Mozart, Verdi, Rossini and Donizetti, amongst others. Highlights will include Verdi’s Hebrew Slaves chorus from Nabucco, as well as a variety of choruses from Mozart's Cosi fan tutte, all in all creating a delightful and exuberant programme.
This event follows on from the sell-out success of the 'Opera Viva!' concert which the Marches Choir presented last summer at Walcot. The choir is excited to be performing again in the very special surroundings of the ballroom, with its elegant ambience and wonderful acoustics.
