The Quartet has prepared a celebration of the music of Dudley Moore, a much-loved comic actor, but also a brilliant jazz pianist and composer. In studying and playing Dudley's original jazz of the swinging sixties, when he came to fame, the Quartet also found deeply poignant expressions of his emotional range and depth.
Dudley, as accompanist and band performer, rose to prominence appearing and recording with John Dankworth and then with his own trio in clubs, concerts and on television. Tonight he is remembered with affection by Chris Ingham on pinao, Paul Higgs on trumpet, Andrew Brown on bass and George double on drums.
