Saturday 14 March 2020 was a sad day for Stevenage Choral Society. We made the decision to cancel our Sprig of Thyme concert as the world was shutting it’s doors to Coronavirus. Our music practiced to perfection was closed and not dusted down until a few weeks ago when we ventured back into rehearsals and the unknown.
We bring you this concert tonight as a thank you for all your support and faith in us. We sing for the joy of it and to please our audiences.
John Rutter's collection of English Folk song settings - "Sprig of Thyme" - will be one of the items in the concert and we will perform most of the parts of this work.
The rest of the concert will be arrangements by Johnathan Rathbone of well known pieces - some songs from shows, others folk songs and one about an animal (some of the details are below). Some you'll know and others not!
So the concert will be full of some beautiful and easy listening tunes.
