At 17, Scottish born Paul Galbraith won the silver medal in the first Segovia International Guitar competition. Segovia, who was present, described his playing as “magnificent”. Since then he has enjoyed a near 30 year solo career in which he has performed all over the world with major orchestras, including the English, Scottish, European and Moscow Chamber Orchestras, The Royal Philharmonic and the Halle, and recorded extensively.
His extraordinary dexterity and musicianship using the unique 8 string “Brahms” instrument played cello style have attracted widespread admiration; “Something near genius” (Classical music), “Unique clarity and controlled passion” (Los Angeles Times) “worth travelling long distances to hear” (The Guardian)
