Manchester Renaissance Ensemble

Manchester Renaissance Ensemble was formed in 2016 by students from the University of Manchester. They are a collection of musicians, both singers and instrumentalists, dedicated to the accurate performance of Renaissance and early music.  Their programme is centered around the themes of rest, sleep and dreams, in both the literal and spiritual senses,. The programme includes William Byrd’s Mass for Four Voices, Vigilate and and Ave Verum Corpus as well as Eric Whitacre's Sleep, and two new commissions by composers at the RNCM. Rory Wainwright Johnston is the Musical Director of Cantores Olicanae, The Brixi Singers, The A Capella Singers and Wigan Choral Society, as well as continuing to support the University’s Music Society.
